CODA Delegation Meets With Haikou Government Officials to Prepare for Deep-Sea Energy Conference

On 15 September 2015, a delegation consisting of representatives from the China Overseas Development Association (CODA), the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and ZC Forevision (Beijing) Technology visited Ni Qiang, the Mayor of Haikou city, and briefed him on their preparations for the upcoming “Deep-sea Energy Conference”. 

According to Cai Qiao, Deputy Secretary General of the Haikou government, in order to foster the energy sector in Hainan Province, the Haikou government plans to team up with CODA and CNOOC to co-sponsor the first-ever Haikou Deep-sea Energy Conference. The upcoming event will be held from 3 to 4 December 2015, and will center on the theme of “Exploring Deep-sea Energy Resources to Build a Strong Maritime Presence”. 

Zeng Heng, CNOOC’s First Deputy Chief Engineer, expressed that CNOOC will lend its full support to the Conference, where it hopes to promote technical exchanges, networking and innovative technology licensing in the deep-sea engineering sector. CNOOC also plans to integrate the conference with the 2015 annual meetings of the five industry associations under its supervision (Offshore Engineering Academic Committee of the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, Ocean Engineering Branch of the Chinese Society for Oceanography, Offshore Oil Branch of the Chinese Petroleum Society, Offshore Branch of the China High-tech Industrialization Association, and Ocean Engineering Committee of Taiwan’s Chinese Institute of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering). 

CODA Secretary General Hu Weiping views this Conference as an opportunity to grow the marine engineering industry in Hainan, and hopes to use the annual conference to achieve this end. Mayor Ni Qiang expressed his thanks and pledged his full support to the conference.
